Every once in a while, usually on a weekend, our combined schedule requires no alarm clock.
When this happens, it’s absolutely glorious. I sighed just thinking about it.
It’s often a big, fat, rising sun who reminds us that it’s time for breakfast, or perhaps it’s the cat, deciding to make bread on my bladder, or maybe it’s a powerful, full-body sneeze from my drowsy wife that brings us back to life.
Gradually, eyes open. Thoughts begin. The day magically commences without either of us reaching to silence a petulant iPhone.
Waking up naturally at the exact moment when the body and mind are ready to reboot, that’s a serene, warm and peaceful pleasure I hope to experience again soon.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to set my alarm.
Tomorrow is a busy day.
